ARTIST BIO
Phresha is a Vancouver-based visual artist, immersed in a variety of creative practices. Phresha draws her inspiration from the natural beauty of the world around her, as well as the mysterious, cosmic realms of the the imagination. Her artwork explores whimsical, mystical themes and features strange, magical creatures that reside in an universe parallel to ours. Her hyper-surrealistic, psychedelia infused dreamscapes invoke feelings of playful wonder and ethereal beauty. Currently, Phresha is focusing on working with her international art collective Bad Apple Artists Collective on gallery shows as well as collaborative mural projects with Galactikitty and immersing herself in the beautiful world around her.

GALACTIKITTY is the culmination of the collaborative artworks of the Vancouver based artists Jenn "Slingshot" Brisson and PHRESHA. Jenn comes from a Classical Animation background while Phresha comes from a street art background combined with a formal graphic design education. Both artists met while participating in local group art shows and connected through their love of art, nature, whimsical hybrid creatures and cats. Even though both artists come from different backgrounds and styles, people started commenting that both artists’ characters seem to live in the same world. Seeing how they shared the same ethereal imagination, they decided to see what would happen if they collaborated more. After their first painting as a team and seeing how well they worked together, they couldn’t deny the magic. It was a match made in space. Wanting to go bigger, Jenn and Phresha got the opportunity to work together on a large interior intergalactic underwater themed mural in Brooklyn, NY in 2016 and so, “Galactikitty” began. In the last couple of years they have been collaborating on numerous gallery paintings, installations as well as several other large-scale murals using a combination of spray paint, stencils and latex paint. Their common goal in creating public art is to make people smile, evoking feelings of playful wonder and ethereal beauty, while whisking them away to magical worlds, though colourful compositions of abstract shapes, textures and distinct figurative and illustrative elements. With their surreal and out-of-this-world art, they hope to spread colour and whimsy through their paintings, street art and murals all around the world.
